Benihana - Westbury is a japanese in Westbury, New York. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Westbury is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Westbury follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Benihana in Westbury. What was supposed to be a celebration dinner turned into a frustrating and unacceptable evening from start to finish. Our reservation was for 7:45 PM, but we werenโ€™t seated until around 8:15 PM. Even after being seated, we didnโ€™t receive drinks or a chef until nearly 9:00 PM. The lack of organization and attentiveness was immediately noticeable. The cleanliness of the restaurant was also a major issue. The bathroom was dirty and poorly maintained, and the bar area was even worse. The countertop was sticky and covered in crumbs, and the bartender had personal snacks sitting in the same space where drinks were being prepared completely unprofessional and unsanitary. When the chef finally arrived, the experience did not improve. Food was being dropped all over the place, and he repeatedly missed our plates while cooking. Considering the price point, this level of carelessness is unacceptable. To make matters worse, our waitress charged my card for another partyโ€™s bill, resulting in a significantly higher charge than expected. This was clearly due to a lack of attention and added unnecessary stress to an already p

A solid 3. Tasty but mediocre food, service, cleanliness, etc. (e.g. salad dressing comes on wet lettuce to make it a watery experience, soup is great, cali roll has mayonnaise crab saladโ€ฆ sushi looks pitiful and comes in packages, its definitely the cheapest possible, but still tasty. Rice is very very flavorful and moist, not fried, but steamed. The ice cream had a few bits of ice solids from freezer burn. Chateaubriand was decent. Not a fan of the sauces here, but that could very well be subjective. I asked for change for a 20 so that I could leave a $10 tip on a $97 meal (the meal in the photo was the supreme emperor, with lobster tail and steak) and they gave me 20 $1 bills. I took my meal at the empty sushi bar, which was sticky - not just my spot, I tried several, the type of sticky that comes with using a bucket of sticky water to clean.) I normally wouldnโ€™t leave a review for such a mid experience. But Iโ€™ve tried it on two other occasions and they were both the same (but I did remember having better sauces), so thought Iโ€™d offer my opinion. My waitress was very polite.

I came here for lunch after finding it on Google Maps. The place is quite spacious, which was a nice surprise. The interior felt a bit dated, and it didnโ€™t seem fully ready yet. I ordered the filet mignon hibachi, overall it was okay, nothing particularly memorable, but the other guests seemed quite happy with their meals.

After having such a great experience at Benihana in Manhasset, we decided to try the Westbury location since itโ€™s closer to home. Unfortunately, the experience here was very different. The restaurant was almost empty, but we still waited about 30 minutes for our food. We ordered hibachi steak medium rare, and it came out well done. The chicken was overcooked and the rice was cold. The portion sizes also seemed smaller than what we received at the Manhasset location. For $29, youโ€™d think they wouldnโ€™t be so stingy with the portions. To their credit, one gentleman stepped in and really tried to make things right. They remade my dadโ€™s meal and cooked my steak again, and the second time the food came out much better. He was attentive and checked on us after. Our waitress was kind, but there were some communication mix-ups during the meal. In the end, the food was good once it was corrected, but what should have been a quick hibachi lunch took much longer than expected. They did give us coupons to come back, which I appreciated. That said, Iโ€™ll probably stick with the Benihana in Manhasset, which was way better in most aspects.

Another couple, my wife and I went on a Friday night dinner double date. It was both the ladies first time here and my friend and I haven't been in years. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the drinks were decent too. The next morning I was still tasting the food in my mouth and the wife and I couldn't stop talking about how good it was. So much so that when the blizzard hit a couple days later over the weekend, we seriously contemplated going back for lunch as they were actually one of few places that was open, which is another sign of their commitment to service.
